PEREGRINE 2008

On a sunny January day we went for a sail with Peter and Sarah to look for winter birds. Here are godwits over by the pink house opposite Mistley Quay (river Stour).

And oystercatchers

The birds all took off - thought it was our fault - the dingy gets a bit wobbly here

But instead of lifting off and moving along the shore a bit, they started to twist and turn

Twisting and turning in an agitated manner - more than their usual display type flying

Godwits going mad - flying on their wing tips they are turning so fast - I started to look around them to see what was driving them

A peregrine - driving the birds round and round

These are very cropped long distance images - not an easy shot with a zoom lens in a dingy

Starting to dive - we lost sight of it after that - suppose it caught something.
